Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Thursday, July 14, continued southward movements as as lead indicators of the Bourse dropped 0.10 per cent.
Specifically, the All Share Index (closed at 28,703.09 basis points as against 28,730.40 basis points recorded at the start of the day’s trade, bringing Year-to-Date (YTD) returns to 0.21 per cent.
Market breadth closed negative as United Capital Plc led 16 gainers against 23 losers topped by Skye Bank Plc at the end of today’s session, an improved performance when compared with Wednesday outlook of 15 gainers and 25 losers.
Skye Bank dropped by 8.96 percent or 6 kobo to close at 61 kobo per share, MRS lost 5 percent or N1.68 kobo to close at N31.93 per share, while Nigerian Police Force Microfinance Bank fell by 4.85 percent or 5 kobo to close at 98 kobo per share.
Cutix Plc followed with a decline of 4.71 percent or 8 kobo to close at N1.62 per share and A.G. Leventis Plc dropped 4.12 percent or 4 kobo to close at 93 kobo per share.
On the other hand, United Capital Plc led the gainers chart on account of impressive half year results with a 155 percent profit appreciation. The company’s stocks gained 9.88 percent or 24 kobo to close at N2.67 per share.
Honeywell Flour Plc added 9.52 percent or 14 kobo to close N1.61 per share, while Unilever Plc appreciated by 5 percent or N1.59 to close at N33.39 per share.
At the end of trading for the day, investors traded 203.6 million shares worth N2.5 billion in deals in contrast with 190 million shares worth N2.3 billion that exchanged hands in 4,578 deals on Wednesday.
