NSE Index Gains 1.02% as Trading Bounces Back From Intense Bear Run

Equities Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Thursday, June 2, reversed intense downward trajectory as the All Share Index improved by 1.02 percent to close at 27,183.64 points.

This was against the loss of 2.72 percent at 26,910.23 basis points recorded on Wednesday, June 1.

Likewise, Market capitalization appreciated  by N95 billion to close at N9.34 trillion as against the loss of N258 billion to close at N9.24 trillion recorded previously.

Leading the day’s gainers were Nigerian Breweries which added N6.41 to close at N134.71 per share followed by Lafarge Wapco which added N3.67 to close at N77.07 per share, while Dangote Cement increased with N3 to close at N170 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle topped the losers dropping N29.66 to close at N755 per share, Seplat followed with a loss of N9.85 to close at N350.15 per share.

Most actively traded stocks in the course of the day’s trade were UBA which sold 93.1million shares worth N386.9 million, FCMB with sales of 40.5 million shares worth N59.4 million and Access Bank which exchanged 30.9 million shares for N163.7 million.

At the end of the day’s trading, investors in 4,167 deals traded 332.2 million shares worth N2.2 billion compared with a total of 352.3 million valued at N3.85 billion traded in 5,024 deals on Wednesday, June 1.
