Inter Milan, AC Milan to Get Brand New Stadium Worth €600 Million

AC Milan and Inter Milan New Stadium

From four European Cup finals to six games at the 1990 World Cup, this venue is steeped in history, but this grand building will not be renovated in the future, according to reports, with demolition a real possibility.

In fact, Italian publication La Repubblica claim that Inter Milan and AC Milan are willing to proceed with a brand new, €600m stadium situated just a few hundred metres away from the San Siro.

Rossoneri are the club that are extremely keen on the idea, while Inter will make their decision known shortly.

La Repubblica state that the San Siro is expected to be demolished and a new, modern stadium will be built in a project worth €600 million by 2023. AC Milan have given the approval, with Inter yet to give it. The municipal council has also given a go-ahead signal for it.

Milan’s president Paolo Scaroni is believed to be the one that has accelerated the idea of a new and futuristic stadium; a project that has been dubbed ‘the most innovative in Europe.’

Atlanta’s futuristic Mercedes Benz Stadium, a venue that has hosted the Super Bowl, is believed to be a role model for the new stadium.

Milan and Inter have decided, according to la Repubblica, to build a new stadium together, instead of renovating San Siro. The new stadium seats 60,000 to 65,000 spectators. The MetLife stadium in New York is mainly seen as an example, because it is used by two clubs.

Milan are proceeding with the idea of building a new stadium instead of renovating San Siro. Inter’s final decision will soon arrive to construct a new stadium only a couple of hundred meters from San Siro, which would be ready by 2023.

It is believed the new stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 to meet UEFA’s minimum requirements to host finals.
