Automobile manufacturer, Honda, has posted record November sales, exceeding its 2014 mark as volume soared 6.5 percent to 122,924.
Truck sales for both the Honda and Acura divisions performed well, up 11 percent for the month to 62,737 units. Car sales increased 2.2 percent to 60,187, Automotive News reports.
Honda Division light trucks soared 11 percent to 54,365 units — driven in large part by the recently introduced Ridgeline pickup — while car sales rose 4.6 percent to 56,943. Overall, Honda Division posted a 7.9 percent increase in sales to 111,308 vehicles.
“Considering the continued consumer appetite for trucks and SUVs, we’re excited to see Honda cars resonate so well with our customers,” Jeff Conrad, general manager of Honda Division, said in a statement.
Sales of the Accord improved 6.3 percent to 27,182 while Civic sales rose 1 percent to 25,303. The automaker sold 3,464 units of the newly redesigned Ridgeline, released in June.
Honda crossovers did not fare as well, with sales of the Pilot dipping 18 percent to 9,024 and the CR-V declining 0.7 percent to 25,758 vehicles sold. The outgoing Odyssey minivan posted a 4.5 percent sales decrease for the month, to 7,978 units.
Acura Division sales fell 5.1 percent to 11,616, with car sales dropping 27 percent to 3,244 vehicles. The full-size RLX sedan was the lone bright spot for Acura cars, rising 17 percent to 140 units.
Truck sales were up 7.6 percent to 8,372, buoyed by a 13 percent increase in the MDX crossover sales to 4,622 units.
