Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has approved the completion of the Okitipupa-Ayeka-Araromi-Irele road in the Southern senatorial district of the State.
The State commissioner for information, Mr Kayode Akinmade revealed this during a press briefing held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s office in Akure.
Akinmade said the state executive council has approved over N1.2bn for the completion of the road, comprising 1.4km swampy failed portion and road pavement, which will be completed within 6months.
He was flanked by the State commissioner for works, Mr Gboye Adegbenro, Agric commissioner, Pastor Segun Ayerin, new Artoney General and Justice commissioner, Barrister Remi Olatubura and the chairman of OSOPADEC, Pastor Johnson Ogunyemi.
State commissioner, Mr Gboye Adegbenro said that the Mimiko administration inherited the road project from the administration of late Dr Olusegun Agagu and discovered that 1.4 kilometre of the road had failed, hence the need for government to give specification to the contractor and stabilize the swampy portion with chemical injection.
Adegbenro noted that government has awarded the road contract to CRCC and it will be executed through OSOPADEC.
