Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has said that the state would continue to invest in youth development.
Masari while addressing instructors and no fewer than 500 trainees of 2016 Youths’ Life Skills and Vocational Entrepreneur Development Programme of the state, said concerted efforts would be made to aggressively pursue youth empowerment programmes and policies.
He revealed that the state would also collaborate with the Bank of Industry (BoI) where both the state and the bank would provide N1 billion each to boost small and medium industries in the state.
The governor tasked the youths to embrace programmes meant to enhance their well- being. He stressed that the state government would not shirk from its commitment of ensuring that youths become useful citizens.
Secretary to Katsina State Government, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, earlier noted that the initiative was part of fulfilment of campaign promises to engage youths who are not employed.
Inuwa said 1,020 youths were mobilised and categorised into four groups with the aim of imparting skills to them, stressing that at the end of the training, government would resettle the youths.
The training is coming shortly after the state government resettled some youths trained by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation.
