Amaechi Directs Abuja-Kaduna Train Service To Resumes Operations Saturday

The federal government, through the ministry of transportation, has began dialogue with the World Bank for the development of comprehensive policy guidelines for land transportation in the country.

According to a statement signed by Mrs. Yetunde Sonaike on behalf of the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, it stated that government is ready to work with the bank to develop a fresh policy guideline for the road sector.

It said the minister expressed delight at the proposal from the bank, adding that government through the ministry is ready to work harmoniously and partner with the World bank team on the development of a comprehensive policy guideline that will promote and galvanize land transportation in the country.

“I will be glad if you can work with us and develop a comprehensive Land Transportation Policy” he said.

The minister also said lack of relevant and appropriate policy guidelines for necessary administrative management of the sector has been the reason why the ministry has not been able to take full charge of land transportation.
