NCC To Nigerians: Protect Telecoms Infrastructures Against Vandalism
The federal government through the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, NIGCOMSAT, is planning to generate about N300 billion yearly from the nation’s communication satellite sector.
The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday, June 23, in his goodwill message at the Satellite-based Augmentation System (SBAS) workshop organized in Abuja by the NIGCOMSAT in collaboration with the China Great Wall Industries Corporation (CGWIC).
Shittu, who was represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Arch Sunday Echono, said communication satellite business had a multi-billion dollar business prospects and market opportunities for Nigeria, especially now that revenue from crude oil was dwindling.
Also, the Managing Director/CE of NIGCOMSAT, Ms Abimbola Alale, had earler said proper satellite applications would enhance security, aviation business, mobile communication, fleet management and precision agriculture, among other benefits.
