The Federal Government (FG) have again implored the Joint Action Commitee, the umbrella body for SSANU, NAAT, NASU to call off their nationwide strike which started December 5.
The Non-teaching Staff comprising Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have agreed yesterday evening to summon a meeting today, Wednesday, March 7, 2018, to brief their members with a view to calling off their strike.
“This is following a successful conciliation meeting at the instance of the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.”
The Director of Press at the Ministry, Samuel Olowookere, in a statement yesterday, has said that the “meeting which had the leadership of the unions and the officials of the Federal Ministry of Education in attendance deliberated exhaustively on all the outstanding issues raised by the unions.”
He added that Ngige while rounding off the meeting, recounted all the steps already taken by the current administration to permanently resolve all outstanding matters that disturb the smooth running of academic activities in tertiary institutions as well as the measures currently being taken t to settle the trade dispute with the Non-Teaching Staffs.
