The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) will celebrate its sixth annual international Day of the Seafarer tomorrow.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “At Sea for All”, a reminder to the world of how and why seafarers are indispensable to everyone and not just for the shipping industry or for their own career purposes.

To help celebrate, the IMO is asking everyone to help spread the message on social media by using Thunderclap, a super-easy-to-use crowd-speaking app that will help amplify the message to the world.

“This year, on June 25th, the Day of the Seafarer, we are once again asking people everywhere to show their appreciation for the seafarers that quietly, mostly unnoticed, keep the wheels of the world in motion,” said IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim.

June 25th every year is celebrated globally as the Day of the Seafarer, an official United Nations observance day. This year, once again, IMO is asking people everywhere to show their appreciation, through social media, for seafarers and their contribution to international trade and the world economy.
