The Brazilian government will be rolling out coronavirus vaccines two days earlier than scheduled.
Brazil is one of the hardest-hit nations, and the government is rallying to contain its spread, with Sao Paulo already kicking off its vaccination campaign.
Vaccines that have been approved for use are the CoronaVac by a Chinese pharmaceutical company, Cobishield by Oxford University, and Astrazeneca.
The South American country has continued to record over a thousand cases daily, with almost 210,000 fatalities reported.
Brazil’s health minister Eduardo Pazuelli said that after consultations with governors of states, it was decided that the vaccines could be distributed.

He said, “After hearing from the governors, we came to the conclusion that today we will distribute the vaccines to the states.”
The demographics in the frontline of the vaccination program are the elderly and the indigenous populations.
There have been renewed criticisms over the handling of the pandemic by President Jair Bolsonaro who had always described coronavirus protocols as a “hysteria”.
However, he said that two million doses of Covishield will be flown in from India.
