The wife of the President Hajiya Aisha Buhari, start up the Maternal and New- Born Child Health(MNCH) in Jega Local Government Area in Kebbi state. She also inaugurated a new 80-Bed capacity general hospital named after her.
Hajiya Buhari also promised to ensure that maternal and child health centres were provided in communities across the country, and her desire to promote and support maternal and child health care especially the reduction in maternal mortality.
She also donated assorted foodstuff, textile materials and blankets to Internally Displaced Persons.
Wife of the state governor, Hajiya Zainab, said activities for the week would involve promotion of health and well being of mothers and children. She appreciated the donor agencies for supporting the health care sector of the state and pledged to expand the scope of impact especially in rural areas.
The Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, added that the Federal Government would enhance healthcare delivery in the country.
