The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has stated that the company loses almost 20 per cent of its monthly revenue to the poor payments of electricity bills in its franchise area.
Regional Manager, FCT North, Hauwa Kulu Mohammed, who spoke at a customers’ forum it organized in Life Camp, Abuja to sensitize customers on the benefits of the present tariff system, said the company has projected the metering of all customers within two years.
Mohammed disclosed that despite the fixed charge removal the company still pays for capacity charge to the Market Operator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“Although people say they have been over billed now but the company has not overbilled anyone because we have not been able to collect more than 83% of the bills monthly,” Hauwa said.
