Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Friday, July 7,maintained an upward swing as lead indices of the bourse leaped by 0.32 percent.
The All Share Index (ASI) scooped 104.39 points and closed at 32,459.17 points, while the Market Capitalisation gained N36 billion and closed the final trading day of the week at N11.187 trillion.
The day’s performance advanced year-to-date gains to 20.75 percent and reduced month-to-date loss to 1.99 percent.
Market breadth ended positive with 28 gainers against 17 losers, as Transcorp led the day’s advancers by 7.52 percent to close at N1.43 per share, Continental Re-insurance followed, with a gain of 4.84 percent, to close at N1.30 per share.
Fidson jumped by 4.81 percent to close at N2.83 per share, UACN Plc increased 4.55 percent to close at N17.25 per share; and Dangote Sugar appreciated 4.07 percent to close at N8.70 per share.
On the flip side, Conoil led the day’s losers with a drop of 9.74 percent to close at N36.31 per share, May & Baker came next with a decline of 9.43 percent to close at N2.88 per share. PZ followed, with a loss of 9.25 percent to close at N21, Skye Bank dipped 7.69 percent to close at 60 kobo per share and Linkage Assurance fell 4.92 percent to close at 58 kobo per share.
Zenith Bank led the day’s activity chart with an exchange of 73.3 million shares worth N1.5 billion. Transcorp was next with the sale of 18.4 million shares valued at N25.6 million, while Sterling Bank traded 15.3 million shares worth N15.3 million. FBN Holdings exchanged 14.7 million shares valued at N88.9 million, and Champion Breweries emerged the fifth most traded stock with 10.0 million shares worth N28.6 million.
At the close of trading, volume of shares traded by investors surged to 212.4 million compared to a total of 168.5 million shares traded on Thursday.
The value traded in 3,217 deals declined in comparison with Thursday’s as investors traded N2.5 billion worth of shares against N3.6 billion traded in 3,536 deals in previous session.
