The Ag. Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday called for collaboration between the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) to tackle security challenges in the country.

The call is contained in a statement issued by the Force spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Don Awunah in Abuja.

Idris, who made the call during a visit to the Director-General of DSS, Mr. Lawal Daura, said it was only through synergy with relevant security agencies that the country can overcome the current security challenges.

He said there was the need for the police to initiate the collaboration since it was vested with the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

Responding, Daura assured of the DSS’s readiness to give maximum support and cooperation to the police in tackling security challenges in the country.

He said the cooperation was incumbent on the service because they had historical link with the Nigeria Police.

Daura reminded the I-G that the country expected more from him having seen his track records in policing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit was in continuation of Idris’s visit to security agencies in the country.
