Barcelona suffered a shocking European Champions League (UEFA) exit as Antioine Griezman’s double sent Atletico Madrid into the semi-finals.

Barca arrived in Spain’s capital with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, but allowed unmarked Griezmann to power home Saul’s cross. Saul also headed one against the bar while Barca toiled also for Griezmann to score a late penalty after Andres Iniesta handled the ball in box.

Barcelona was denied a late penalty when Gabi handled the ball inside the box. The defeat ruined Barcelona’s hopes of a treble – La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Similarly, Bayern Munich secured a fifth consecutive uefa semi-final ticket at the expense of Benfica yesterday.

The Portuguese side, trailing 1-0 from the first leg, got a boost when Raul Jimenez headed in the ball front of the defense line, but Arturo Vidal goal turned the tide while Thomas Muller’s guided close-range effort put the Germans ahead.

Also Benfica drew level on the night through Talisca’s curled free-kick, but a comeback was beyond them. Bayern boss, Pep Guardiola would resume in Manchester City this summer and the two clubs could meet in the last four when the draw is made on Friday.
