The Niger State government has awarded contract worth N663.4 million for the revamp and digitalisation of its state radio and television stations to Ecalpemos Technology.

The Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Jonathan Vatsa who recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the private firm maintained that the move was in line with the government effort to make the two stations productive and effective in the era of digitalization.

Vatsa explained that the move marked the beginning of the better days ahead for the two state owned media outlets of Radio Niger both FM/MW and Niger State Television (NSTV) adding that it was unfortunate that the AM station has been off air for about 17 years.

He promised that the present administration of Alhaji Abubakar Bello has considered its own media organisations very vital in propagating government programs and policies, hence it has taken it as a matter of policy to ensure that the media houses work to full capacity.

According to him, the revamping of the two radio stations will cost N334.9 million and that of the NSTV will cost N328.6 million.
