Oshodi To Become A World-class Central Business District

Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday, revealed that plans are in place on how to transform Oshodi into a world-class Central Business District (CBD) with business, travel and leisure activities conducted in a serene, secure, clean, orderly and hygienic environment.

Ambode stated that the concept is based on a 3-branched approach – Urban Renewal & Environmental Regeneration, Transportation and Security. He also communed more details on his objectives with residents, traders and commercial bus operators of Oshodi while also stating that the enactment of the Oshodi Transport Interchange project would be the first phase of bringing a new ‘face-lift’ to this area.

“We have decided to regenerate Oshodi forever! Our aim is to make Oshodi a clean, safe and conducive area for business. We can make life more comfortable for residents, market women, traders and those operating commercial buses in the area right now. This is why we are engaging all stakeholders in order to complete this project within 13 months commencing on the 1st of June this year”

“We are setting up a modern, container mall that would provide recreational activities which would give the children of residents along the axis, a taste of the benefits enjoyed by those in the more developed areas of the state. The restructuring of the area would include merging 13 motor parks into 3 big ones that would accommodate over 500 large buses at a time,” he said.

He also noted that Pedestrian facilities would also be provided for about 1 million pedestrians that come through the area including a sky-walk that would give pedestrians views of the project’s landscape.
