The outgoing governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki placed an under-arrest order on Adams Oshiomhole as a result of his alleged involvement in a protest that resulted in the damage of banks and the deaths of no less than three individuals in the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Obaseki’s commissioner for communication and orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said that Oshimohole, an APC leader, hired thugs to rob banks and disturb the tranquility of the state due to the shortage of naira.

The statement said, “We have spent the entire day touring the city and talking to the demonstrators when we realized that there is more going on than first appears.

We spent the entire day touring the city and talking to demonstrators when we released the following statement: “It is more complicated than it first appears.

β€œAt this point, we urge security forces to detain Adams Oshiomhole so they may question him and find out where he has been lately, especially in Benin City. He purposefully sparked the public’s protest.”

“I know that the lack of naira notes will be cited as the reason for the protest, but even if that is the truth, Nigerians should be aware of which political party is in charge since it is ironic that the same party that created this policy is still sending individuals to deface PDP billboards.”
