NSE Index Loses 0.11% on Relentless Bear Run

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, closed in the Red on Friday, April 15, as benchmark indices depreciated by 0.11 per cent compared with an increase of 0.44 per cent on Thursday, April 14.

The All-Share Index plunged by 26.77 points to close at 24719.27 points against the appreciation of 108.13 points to close at 24,746.04 points recorded on Thursday.

Likewise, the Market Capitalization closed at N8.503 trillion, N9.21 billion lower than Thursday’s closing figure of N8.5112 trillion.

Conoil Plc and PZ Cussons Plc. led the day’s 23 losers with a decline of 9.7 per cent to close at N18.15 and N21.22 respectively.

A.G Leventis Plc and Forte Oil Plc likewise dropped by 5 per cent to close at 76 kobo and N278.57 respectively, also MRS Oil Plc closed 4.98 per cent or N2.35 down to close at N44.83 per share.

On the other hand, Seplat Petroleum Plc topped the day’s 25 gainers with a gain of 7.04 per cent or N21.85 to close at N332.15 per share, followed by UACN Plc., which increased by 5.26 per cent or 97 kobo to close at N19.40 per share, while Stanbic Plc. and Fidson Health Care Plc. advanced by 5 per cent or 65 and 10 kobo respectively to close at N13.65 and N2.10 per share respectively. Diamond Bank Plc gained 4.84 per cent or 6 kobo to close at N1.30 per share.

In all, investors on the floor of the Exchange traded a total of 437.9 million shares valued at N2.78 billion in 2,647 deals compared with 271.66 million shares valued at N1.612 billion exchanged in 2,988 deals on Thursday.
