Nasarawa: JUSUN Closes Courtroom, Locks out Chief Judge, Lawyers, Others

Justice Suleiman Diko, Nasarawa State Chief Judge, was on Monday locked out of the courtroom premises of the High Court Headquarters in Lafia, the state capital by the protesting National Executive Council of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

The Chief Judge who disguised and entered his office around 8am was clocked inside as the Union blocked the entrance of the court.

National President of JUSUN, Marwan Mustapher Adamu, led other members of the National Executive Council of JUSUN on a protest that carried out the lock-down of the court premises.

The President was also represented by Saidu Adamu, National Assistant Secretary of the Union, also prevented lawyers and other management staff access to the court.

The President explained that the Union would continue to stage a peaceful protest at the court for three consecutive days and nobody would be allowed in or out of the court premises.

Also speaking, Jimoh Musa, Nasarawa State Chairman of JUSUN, said the strike was to press home demands for better welfare.

He listed some of the demands to includes illegal deduction of their salaries, lack of payment of five years’ promotion arrears, lack of convention of staff with higher qualification among others.

It would be recalled that the Union embarked on an indefinite strike since November 13 2018, to demand for better welfare of its members.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Chief Judge proved abortive as all calls to his phone cells were not going through.
