Jigawa To Distribute 350,270 Bags Of Grains

Jigawa State government has concluded arrangements to release  350,270 bags of grains for onward free distribution to needy persons across the state. Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar disclosed this while announcing the procedures designed for the distribution of the grains.

He said, his government cancelled the celebration of one year anniversary due to economic hardship and diverted the money to purchase the grains and distribute it to the needy to ease their condition.

According to him, as Ramadan fasting is approaching if government release the grains it would also stabilize the high price of the commodities in the market which will also benefit all members of the public including those who do not directly receive the intervention.

The governor added that the grains which is equivalent to 32,000 tonnes will be delivered to each and every polling unit across the state for distribution to the poor and needy persons.

“Under the arrangement, the government will distribute 32,000 tonnes equivalent of 350,270 bags of assorted grains, and 10 bags will be given to each and every one of the 3,527 polling units in the state. He also lamented that his administration inherited an empty treasury  and the current economic downturn which poses series of challenges that require patience and understanding.”
