Jigawa State government has released N75.9 million as loans to the state Council of Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, and Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, for the purchase of tricycles for its members. Each tricycle was given to them at the cost of N550,000 each. The loan is repayable within four years.
The tricycle loan was given by the state government to the two unions to boost their activities and ease transportation problem among their members.
The chairman of the state NUT, Comrade Usman Ya’u Dutse, said they received 75 tricycles and that each local government chapter of the union in all the 27 local government councils would be given two tricycles for distribution to its members.
He explained that the remaining 12 tricycles would be kept at Limawa Skills Acquisition Centre, Dutse, for interested members..
Also, the chairman of Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure, said they also received 63 tricycles.
He added that two tricycles were allocated to each of its local government branches. He also said the remaining nine would be given to the nine state officials of the union, adding that the distribution process has commenced already.
