DPR Seals Two Stations for Hoarding, Diversion of Petrol

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR,  has sealed two filling stations for hoarding petrol.

The two station were Zen-Hajad(ZHL) and Kubewas Oil Service all located in Gauraka Kaduna Road, Kaduna State.

ZHL was sealed for product hoarding and diversion while Kubewas was shut because the owners abandoned the station when they sighted the DPR.

Director of DPR, Mordecai Ladan, who commented on why the stations were sealed,  told newsmen that the agency would continue to punish those found wanting in the sector.

On the offence of ZHL, Ladan said, ” From the manifest from the depot, this station lifted about 60,000 litees of Premium Motor Spirit as intervention for the crisis currently going on in the country. As part of our monitoring activity, we have come to confirm if the 60,000 litres was delivered. As you can see, nothing of such. We as DPR are surprised that the station are still receiving PMS, and intervention,” he said.

He explained that the station has not been licensed for the past one year because it is substandard.

He said that DPR had told the management of the station to address the short comings in the station but it had not been effected.

Ladan said it was unfortunate that they still get products as intervention but engage in sharp practices.

“With what we have seen, diversion has occurred, so, we will take our action and sanction the station. For every litre of PMS diverted, N200 is charged. So, it will be multiplied for the 60, 000 litres they received and other statutory sanctions attached will be carried out,” he added.

He said that the DPR would do the necessary investigation to ascertain the people that aided the diversion and hoarding process.

Other stations visited along the Kaduna Expressway included Tempo filling station, an NNPC affiliate station, Conoil and Saco petroleum station.
