Main Story
A political support group, Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA 2027), has launched a free computer training programme for 2,250 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) candidates in Katsina State.
The initiative is targeted at candidates whose JAMB registration is sponsored by the group. It is designed to help them gain the computer skills needed to perform well in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination.
The programme was officially launched on Thursday at the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KTSIM), where more than 1,000 students from Katsina Zone participated.
Speaking at the event, the Katsina State Coordinator of the group, Ibrahim Khalil, said the training is part of broader efforts to support education and empower young people in the state.
He explained that many students struggle with CBT exams due to limited computer knowledge, and the programme aims to address that challenge by giving them practical experience.
The Issues
Many students face difficulties during JAMB exams because they are not familiar with computers. This often affects their performance, even when they understand the exam content.
Limited access to digital tools and training has remained a major challenge, especially in some parts of the country.
Programmes like this help bridge that gap by exposing students to the exam format and improving their confidence.
What’s Being Said
Bala Musawa, the State Deputy Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), urged the students to remain focus and make good use of the opportunity. He said proper attention to the training would help them achieve success in their exams.
Aliyu Abubakar-Albaba, a member of the Katsina State House of Assembly, praised the initiative and called on other groups to invest in education and youth development.
The Rector of KTSIM, Dr Muttaka Rabe-Darma, assured that the institution would provide full support for the programme. He noted that qualified instructors would guide the students to ensure they gain the necessary skills.
Meanwhile, the leader of the group, Umar Ahmad-Zayyad, promised to sponsor the first school registration fees for candidates who score 200 and above in the JAMB examination.
What’s Next
The training programme will continue across other zones in Katsina State, covering all selected candidates.
Organisers are expected to monitor its impact and possibly expand the initiative to reach more students in the future.
Bottom Line
The initiative is a practical step toward improving students’ performance in JAMB. By combining free training with incentives, it offers both support and motivation, helping students build confidence and succeed in their exams.
