Defending Champion Israel Adesanya defeated his Brazilian challenger Paulo Costa in the second round by technical knockout to retain his title.
Both fighters went into the octagon with impressive resumes, with the last style bender having an edge with 4 in excess of Paulo’s 15 knockouts.
Prior to their fight, Israel and Paulo had squared up at their weigh-in staredown event over a rope incident, the Brazilian had brought a white rope out of his pocket and wielded it in Adesanya’s face, to which the champion snatched and whipped his opponent and Paulo put his arms up to guard his face.
Many viewers would feel disappointed as the fight didn’t last as long as expected going by the pedigree of The Eraser. However, with this fight out of Israel’s way, he has shown once more that he is not slowing down in his quest to build a lasting legacy for himself in the world of MMA.
