The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc, IBEDC, said it had invested the sum of N4.5billion in expanding its metering scheme across the business network in 2016.
Meanwhile, the electricity firm has expressed concern over leakages as it disclosed that about 56 percent of customers do not pay bills.
Managing Director, Mr. John Donnachie, who disclosed , this at a tour of its new facilities in Eleyelestated that the over N1billion new equipment by the company is geared towards enhancing its network across the 122 substations within its network space.
He explained that the equipment includes 210 units of 11kVA panels, 14 units of 33KV circuit breakers and 2x15MVA 33/11KV injection substation.
He said: “We are focused on customer service and to develop proper metering programmes against the much complaints of estimated billing, although that is going to take a while to arrive at that point.
“In that vein, at the moment we have spent about N4.5 billion on metering this year, and we will strive to continue the process. However, we have put in place a new billing system to improve customer service. “
Speaking on its network investment, Donnachie said the other key element the disco is exploring is the network development.
