Equities Gain N358billion on Positive Midweek Trading

Performance at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, has remained positive following ‎the announcement of a new monetary policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
To this  end, equity investors on Wednesday, May 25, were hit with excitement after the midweek trading with a fortune of N358 billion.

The profit made yesterday, representing a 3.83 per cent growth in total stock value, was considered the highest daily profit ever made in recent times in the equity market.

‎Statistical details of the trading session released by the bourse have revealed an additional 1,042.37 basis points to the market All-Share Index (ASI), as the market capitalisation closed positively at 28,260.61 basis points.
As the traded volume increased by 78.72 per cent, the session also saw the value of all shares traded soared by 137.88 per cent, leaving a wide margin between the current and previous market turnover which ended on the red territory.
Generally, the investors, yesterday, transacted 474.403m shares valued at N3.504bn in 5,260 deals, compared with the 265.453m shares worth N1.473bn that exchanged hands in 4,015 transactions Tuesday.
