Equities Trading Rev Up on Last Trading Day of April As NSE Index Gains 0.42%

Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, closed the last trading week in April in the Green Zone as it gained 0.42% on Friday, April 29, to close at 25,062.41 points compared with an increase of 0.60% to close at 24,957.08 points on Thursday, April 28.

UBA Plc led the most active stocks for the day, trading a total of 31.6 million shares worth N107.3 million, Transcorp came second with a sale of 29.1 million shares worth N28.9 million, Zenith Bank followed with an exchange of 26.5 million valued at N333.6 million.

Wema and FBN Holdings also traded 25.1 million shares and 20 million shares worth N19.96 million and N73.05 million respectively.

Eterna Oil Plc led the day’s 20 gainers advancing by 7.98% or 17 kobo to close at N2.30 per share followed by Tigerbrands Plc which appreciated by 7.83% or 22 kobo to close at N3.03 per share. Nigerian Breweries also gained 4.99% or N5.51 to close at N115.89 per share.

PZ Cussons Plc and Cadbury Plc also added 4.96% or 4.94% or N1.01 and 73 kobo respectively to close at N21.36 and N15.50 per share.

On the other hand, the day’s 20 losers were led by Forte Oil Plc with a loss of 5% or N11.28 to close at N214.35 per share. Premium Paints Plc followed as it dipped 4.94% or 54 kobo to close at N10.39 per share, while Pharmadeko Plc lost 4.88% or 10 kobo to close at N1.95 per share.

Airservice Plc. dropped 4.55% or 7 kobo to close at N1.47 and Unity Bank Plc. fell 4.29% or 3 kobo to close at 67 kobo per share.

A total of 229.2 million shares valued at N1.5 billion were exchanged in 3,493 deals bringing the market capitalization to close at N8.62 trillion.
