Allianz Group, a worldwide company and dedicated carrier for corporate and specialty insurance business has warned that the rise in commercial use of drones despite having immense benefits has serious effects on the society.
In a press statement released on the company website, the report explained that because drones are now cheaper and smaller, purchase and use is getting higher and that insurers need to be aware.
The report revealed that the market is forecast to reach 4.7 million units, or higher, by 2020 with the market for commercial application of drone technology estimated to soar from $2bn to $127bn from industrial inspections, aerial photography, emergency deliveries, agriculture, mining and law enforcement.
However, the report warned that more drones in the skies also raise a number of new safety concerns, ranging from collisions and crashes to cyber-attacks and terrorism. To ensure safe UAS operations, systematic registration of unmanned aircraft and robust education and training of operators is necessary.
It called for attention to training for pilots and users, and strongly recommended that users and products be registered appropriately.
