The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it would engage 1,390 ad hoc workers for the Kogi East senatorial by-election holding July 23.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Samuel Madaki who hinted this in Lokoja, on Tuesday, July 12 assured that all was set for the rerun, urging cooperation from stakeholders to make the poll a success.
He listed the temporary staff to include three returning officers, 53 collation officers, 51 supervisory presiding officers, 236 presiding officers, 912 assistant presiding officers and 135 assistant presiding officers (voting points).
Madaki pointed out that 140,297 registered voters are to partake in the election which holds in 236 polling units across eight local councils in the district.
The REC assured of a free, fair and credible poll, adding that relevant agencies in the state had promised adequate security during the exercise.He emphasised that only eligible voters with permanent voter cards (PVCs) that would be allowed to participate in the rerun.
