Telecom Subscriptions Slide By 2.7million As Operators Deactivate Unregistered SIMS

According to the latest monthly subscriber figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Nigerian telecommunications subscription plunged in the month of February 2016 by 2.7 million.

This decline was as a result of operators’ deactivation of unregistered mobile lines from their networks across the country.

The figures released by the industry regulator showed that total subscriber figures at the end of February was 148,620,359, down from 151,357,769 it was at the end of January 2016.

Most of the drop in subscription came from MTN Nigeria which had to disconnect its unregistered lines from the network.
