SON educates youths on standardisation, quality policy

According to a statement jointly signed by the Deputy Director, Standards Directorate of SON, Chinyere Egwuonwu and Irina Kireeva of EU, the EU and SON have begun an initiative to establish a code of practice for Nigerian agricultural products for exportation, which is slated to be achieved through a planned national training on the code of practices for products.

The theme of the training, scheduled to hold in Abuja on Thursday, is “Standard and Quality: Unleashing the Potential of Agricultural Products to Grow the Non-oil Export in Nigeria.”

Furthermore, it states that the training which would prepare participants with the procedures of the export market will focus on products such as Cocoa, Beans, Shea butter and Melon. It added that the workshop would transform the agricultural sector in Nigeria and would help participants understand that Africa could feed itself through agriculture and export.

The training is to be organised by African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries from the EU’s Technical Barriers to Trade.
