NNPCL To Install Electric Vehicle Charging Ports In Filling Stations

NNPC Says It's Losing $150m To Vandals Every 48hrs

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced plans to install EV charging ports at petrol stations across the country to reduce its carbon footprint. He also said that NNPCL is currently in talks with local companies involved and that the company will invest in electric vehicles to meet local demand.

NNPC New Energy Ltd Managing Director Kanayochukwu Odoye made the announcement in his NNPCL’s latest quarterly magazine, which was launched on Monday and received by correspondents in Abuja. NNPC New Energy Ltd is a subsidiary of his NNPCL engaged in the development and promotion of renewable energy through national oil companies.

Commenting on the oil company’s plans to promote the use of electric vehicles in Nigeria, Odo said: “We are considering him two things. There is a start-up from Maiduguri that deals with renewable energy and electric vehicles. Nigerian startup.

“We are currently discussing with them how we can expand our production capacity to meet local demand in Nigeria. I think we should invest in it. But it’s also because they’re doing something that’s never happened before, at least in this part of the world, so investing in us will give you a foothold in the electric vehicle market. “The next part is how to provide access to charging ports for electric vehicles. We have NNPC retail stations distributed throughout Nigeria and are currently discussing how to install charging stations for electric vehicles at the stations. These are some of the things we are doing in this area.”

Odo also said the company is currently working on building a biodiesel plant in Cross River State.

“We have signed an agreement with Kebbi on a bioethanol plant. We are also looking into converting waste into energy that can be used as electricity or cooking fuel. In this way, we cut down trees and reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere at the same time,” he explained.

Odoe further explained that the country is considering deploying solar power projects to supply electricity to the masses, especially in areas where distribution company services are in short supply.

“We have a particular focus on disadvantaged areas where distribution company services are not available. We want to close this gap.

“Currently, if we provide solar power to these disadvantaged areas, we have to pay for electricity. This is what we are trying to introduce that has never been seen before.

“Regarding the second aspect of the policy, we are currently drafting appropriate concerns to streamline how governments meet their global obligations under treaties and agreements to which they are committed.” he explained.

Sentiment brightened, however, as funding constraints eased and corporate earnings were impressive.

‘How FG Can Use Strategic Communication To Bridge Communication Gaps With Youths’

The Federal Government will benefit immensely from engaging well-trained public relations professionals to effectively manage its relationships with citizens, particularly youths and communicate policies to them to avoid misunderstandings.

Adekunle Dixon Odukoya, Senior Consultant, Strategy, with leading public relations and integrated communications consulting firm, Chain Reactions Africa (CRA), said this during a recent appearance on TVC’s Business Nigeria.

Odukoya, who spoke on communication and reputation management trends in Nigeria’s PR industry, explained that deploying effective communication will help the government build bridges with the youth and regain lost trust.

Odukoya advised that the Federal Government should address the concerns of disenchanted youths rather than disregard them and use PR experts for the task. He explained that the era of the government talking to the citizens, including youth, through a single medium was gone and that multiple available platforms should be explored.

Odukoya said, “Communication is all about managing relationships, and you now have many youths that seem angry about many things. So, the first thing the government needs to do is to pay attention. Show that you are listening to them and begin to take actions that communicate that they are being heard. So how do we do that in Communication?

“We first aggregate public opinion because you can’t successfully take on a populist view without having a pulse on what people feel. In public relations, we regularly conduct online sentiment analysis or surveys amongst the citizenry to gauge what people are saying.

“You can’t have a true sense of what the public is saying if you only listen to radio stations; you can’t have a true sense of what the public feels if you only sit on Twitter. It’s a very toxic environment out there. But there’s some truth there.

So, we aggregate a lot of this through research. That research will give us insight. And the government has to take advantage and leverage those insights in formulating policies that will address the concerns of the youth.”

Odukoya further noted that effective deployment of communication by seasoned PR experts would help address the ignorance among youth.

He said, “There’s a lot of ignorance flying around, but that ignorance cannot be allowed to grow. It would be best if you found a way of bringing the youth back by providing information and educating them. What are those things causing them anger?

And when you communicate, you must be very careful about how you frame. Try as much as possible not to negate their claims. As PR practitioners, we should not be saying that Nigeria is not bad because, in that negation, we are also affirming their own negativity. We should be able to frame our messaging in affirmative ways that bring about optimism and reassurance of a better tomorrow.

“Lastly, are the channels through which we communicate with the youth. It should be what we call Transmedia.

What do I mean? Let’s rely on something other than the old ways of putting things in newspapers or putting things on news channels. The youth of today have developed an assortment of platforms. To communicate and build commonality, the government should take advantage of that multiplicity of media and not rely on things as they used to be.”

He concluded that the present administration must match policy implementation to leverage the positive perceptions garnered from the policy decisions taken so far in the early days, to enjoy a positive reputation down the line.

Stanbic IBTC Bank PMI: Inflationary Pressures Mount Following Fuel Subsidy Removal

Output Returns To Growth, But Cost Pressures Limit Demand - Stanbic IBTC

The removal of the fuel subsidy in Nigeria caused a sharp strengthening of price pressures in June 2023. In turn, rates of expansion in output and new orders softened, but remained marked nonetheless. Business confidence dipped to a near record low.

Intensifying inflationary pressures encouraged companies to expand inventories to try and get ahead of further price increases. Meanwhile, employment was up modestly for the second month running.

The headline figure derived from the survey is the Purchasing Managers’ Index™ (PMI®). Readings above 50.0 signal an improvement in business conditions on the previous month, while readings below 50.0 show a deterioration.

The headline PMI remained above the 50.0 no-change mark in June. Although dipping slightly to 53.2 from 54.0 in May, the reading signalled a solid monthly improvement in the health of the private sector.

While overall business conditions remained on a positive trajectory, firms faced a much stronger inflationary environment at the end of the second quarter of the year, linked to the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Purchase prices increased at the fastest pace since last August, while the rate of selling price inflation accelerated sharply to the steepest in the year-to-date as firms passed higher costs on to their customers.

Issues around the ending of the fuel subsidy also acted to limit the pace of output growth, according to respondents, although activity was still up markedly in the latest survey period.

Output has now risen in each of the past three months amid higher customer numbers and growth of new orders. Wholesale & retail bucked the wider trend and posted a drop in activity.

New business was also up for the third successive month. The rate of expansion was marked, albeit the softest in the current sequence of growth.

Higher new orders encouraged firms to expand employment for the second month running, although the pace of job creation was again only modest.

Despite increasing staffing levels, firms recorded a build-up of backlogs of work, due to an expansion in new business and some difficulties securing inputs.

Some companies reported having brought forward purchasing and expanded inventories ahead of predicted increases in costs of materials in the months ahead. This, allied with increasing workloads, meant that stocks of purchases were accumulated to the largest degree in eight months.

Business confidence dropped to the second-lowest on record in June and was only fractionally above last November’s nadir. Companies remained optimistic that output will increase over the coming year, however, linked to investment, business expansion plans and proposed marketing drives.

Nigerian Banks’ Total Assets Increases By 25.9%

Nigerian Banks' Total Assets Increases By 25.9%

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed that banks’ total assets from April 2022 to April 2023 rose by N16.65 representing a 25.88 per cent, adding that Industry credit also increased by N4.54 trillion during the period under review.

The Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability, CBN, Aisha Ahmad, and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the central bank, Adeola Adenikinju disclosed this in their personal statements at the CBN MPC meeting held in May.

They added that Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) ratio declined to 4.4 per cent in April 2023 from 4.5 per cent in March 2022, which is further below the regulatory benchmark of 5 per cent.

According to Adenikinju, “Total Assets of the banking industry grew by N16.65 trillion or 25.88 per cent between April 2022 and April 2023. Industry credit increased by N4.54 trillion or 17.40 per cent between end April 2022 and end-April 2023. Gross credit has been on an upward trajectory since 2019. Total industry deposits increased by N8.84 trillion or 21.4 per cent between the end of April 2022 and April 2023.”

He added that the stress tests conducted on the industry show that it can weather the major risks and vulnerabilities in the system.

He noted that the financial soundness indicators remain positive and that the banking system remains strong, sound, and resilient.

“The capital adequacy ratio (CAR) stood at 12.8 per cent in April 2023, still within the prudential requirement of between 10 per cent – 15 per cent. Non-performing loans (NPLs) ratio declined from 4.5 per cent in March 2023 to 4.4 per cent in April 2023.

“Liquidity ratio (LR) rose to 45.3 per cent in April 2023, from 43.8 per cent in March 2023. This is above the minimum 30 per cent recommended by the prudential requirement, ”he said.

However, he warned that cost to operating income declined marginally from 70.6 per cent to 70.5 per cent between March and April 2023 urging it be addressed as in other climes, “the ratio is 23.5 per cent in Turkey, 50.6 per cent in Brazil, 41.0 per cent in Malaysia, 62.0 per cent in South Africa, 43.2 per cent in Angola, 35.2 per cent in Egypt, Kenya is 45.2 per cent and Ghana, 46.1 per cent.”

On her part, Ahmad stated: “Industry credit increased by N4.54 trillion between end-April 2022 and 2023 with significant portions of the credit granted to output elastic sectors (manufacturing, general commerce, agriculture, information, and communication), and has been in an upward trajectory since 2019, yet the monthly trend in credit growth declined from 1.31per cent in March 2023 to 0.05 per cent in April 2023. Lending rates also remain high in response to the contractionary monetary policy stance. These developments point to the importance of balanced actions in the pursuit of the price stability mandate.

“Industry soundness indicators also remain strong as of April 2023, with capital adequacy ratio at 12.8 per cent, non-performing loans ratio at 4.4 per cent from 5.3 per cent in April 2022 and liquidity ratio at 45.3 per cent above the 30.0 per cent minimum even as credit to the real sector continued to grow.”

She also added that stress test results showed that industry solvency and liquidity positions could withstand mild to moderate shocks in the short to medium term.

“Nonetheless, the sector must continue to build adequate capital buffers – ongoing implementation of the Basel III capital standards (which prescribes additional capital buffers) are relevant in this regard,” she added.

On his part, the Deputy Governor, Economic Policy Directorate, Dr. Kingsley Obiora stated: “The continuous decline in NPL was attributable to write-offs, restructuring of facilities, Global Standing Instruction (GSI) and sound credit risk management. Consequently, total gross credit increased by N4.54 trillion, representing an increase of 19.71 per cent between the end of April 2022 and the end of April 2023, from N26.10 trillion to N30.64 trillion, due to the increase in the industry funding base, the CBN’s directive on Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR), and business strategy and competition. The credit growth was largely recorded in key sectors of the economy, including oil and gas, manufacturing, general commerce, and government.”

2023 Elections: EU Observers Release Report, Issue 23 Recommendations

2023 Elections: EU Observers Release Report, Issue 23 Recommendations

On June 27th, the European Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in Nigeria released its final report on the federal and state elections held on February 25th and March 18th, respectively.

“In the run-up to the 2023 general elections, Nigerian citizens demonstrated a clear commitment to the democratic process,” said Chief Observer Barry Andrews, a Member of the European Parliament.

“However, the election showed long-standing structural flaws, indicating the need for more legal and operational reforms to improve openness, inclusion, and accountability.”

Following a three-month observation across Nigeria, the EU EOM delivered its findings and recommendations, revealing that deficiencies in law and electoral administration hampered the conduct of well-run and inclusive elections and harmed democracy.

Reform

According to Barry Andrews, the Mission is especially concerned about the need for reform in six areas highlighted as key recommendations. The EU EOM believes that if implemented, it could help to better election administration.

The six priority recommendations emphasize the need to;

  1. Remove legal ambiguities.
  2. Establish a publicly accountable selection process for INEC members.
  3. Ensure real-time publication and access to election results.
  4. Provide greater protection for media practitioners.
  5. Address discrimination against women in political life.
  6. Address impunity for electoral offenses.

Chief Observer, Barry Andrews, noted: “Importantly, there is a need for political will to achieve improved democratic practices in Nigeria. Inclusive dialogue between all stakeholders on electoral reform remains crucial.

“The European Union stands ready to support Nigerian stakeholders in the implementation of these recommendations.”

The EU EOM stated that it worked between 11 January and 11 April at the invitation of the Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria. A European Parliament team joined the EU EOM to observe the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

A total of 110 observers from 25 EU member states, as well as Norway, Switzerland, and Canada, were credentialed by the mission.

European Union(EU) Election Observation Mission’s (EOM) 23 recommendation

  1. Protect the interests of voters through certainty of law for all stages and aspects of electoral processes by eliminating from electoral law and regulations errors and ambiguities to avoid potential for conflicting interpretations, and ensuring the revision processes are inclusive.
  2. Ensure institutional accountability by the timely inclusive consultation on publication and dissemination of all election related laws, regulations and guidelines, and, upon enactment, make consolidated official legislation easily accessible to the public in hard copy and online via the INEC website.
  3. Establish a robust operational framework for the independence, integrity, and efficiency of electoral administration through an inclusive and publicly accountable mechanism for selecting candidates to the posts of INEC commissioners and RECs based on clear criteria of evaluation of merits, qualifications, and verified non-partisanship.
  4. Enhance capacity of electoral staff by revising procedures and subsequent training of the election supervisors, collation officers, and ad hoc polling staff addressing, in particular, the use of technologies, counting procedures, and the completion of polling unit results and collation forms.
  5. Ensure transparency and allow for public scrutiny of election technology by mandating in law timely disclosure of test and audit results, together with protocols, guidelines, methodology of implementation, procurement, and functionality details.
  6. Protect the free expression of the will of the voter and integrity of election by establishing a robust, transparent, and easily verifiable results processing system with clear rules. These include uploading polling unit results from the polling unit only and in real time, at each level of collation results forms to be uploaded in real time and all forms to be published in an easily trackable and scrapable database format.
  7. Provide the opportunity to allow citizens attaining 18 years ahead of elections to register during the previous registration period.
  8. Establish a reliable basis for an inclusive and accurate voter register by undertaking a timely external independent audit of it including in person data checking, sample analysis, and biometric data quality assessment. The process to be followed by implementation of a clear protocol and guidelines for maintaining the register and should be publicly accountable.
  9. Remove unreasonable restrictions to the right to stand by curbing the charging of excessive fees for consideration as a candidate in party primary elections.
  10. Enforce INEC’s campaign regulations by establishing a robust and effective monitoring and sanctioning mechanism to curtail abuse of incumbency, including obstructions and interference by state-level authorities.
  11. Promote transparency and accountability in campaign finances by the introducing a mandatory requirement on political parties, candidates and third parties to operate pre-notified dedicated bank accounts for donations, revenues, and spending, subject to clear rules of accounting, reporting, and public disclosure before, during, and after campaigns with robust sanctions for noncompliance.
  12. Afford adequate protection to freedom of expression by developing a comprehensive operational framework underpinned by the skills and means for ensuring prompt investigation and prosecution of all types of attacks against media practitioners.
  13. Safeguard freedom of expression and transparency by ensuring the independence of National Broadcasting Commission in law and practice. This could be achieved by pre-selecting the NBC management through an open, inclusive, and competitive system, with a cross-party approval mechanism  and/or participation of industry professionals, as well as by establishing clear institutional transparency and accountability requirements.
  14. Protect freedom of expression and pluralism by transforming the federal government owned media, the NTA and FRCN, into genuine public service broadcasters. This includes provisions for editorial independence, financial autonomy, clear separation from any government institution and an open and competitive preselection process of the management, with a crossparty approval mechanism and/or participation of industry professionals.
  15. To align with international and regional standards on freedom of expression, amend overly restrictive legislative provisions limiting this right in the media and online, including the vague definitions of “cyberstalking” in the 2015 Cybercrimes Act and of “classified matters” in the Official Secrets Act.
  16. Promote the independent formation of voters’ opinions and reduce the manipulative interference through legislative or regulatory measures, developed in an inclusive process involving all key stakeholders including civil society experts, to identify, assess and curtail harmful content while protecting freedom of expression.
  17. Undertake urgent and robust affirmative action to ensure meaningful women’s representation through special measures in line with the Beijing principles and the National Gender Policy to increase the representation of women as candidates and in elected office, further supported by cross-sectoral, intensified, and sustained capacity building and sensitisation to eliminate discrimination.
  18. Ensure genuine opportunity to vote for persons with disabilities, and the vulnerable through a conducive voting environment, enabling independent access and respect for the secrecy of the vote, as well as sufficient assistive devices during all categories of elections.
  19. Enhance the right to vote of internally displaced voters by issuing a clear timely operational framework evidenced by detailed information on key voter data, specified temporary special measures, polling unit locations, security arrangements, targeted voter education planning and the early publication of postelection evaluations.
  20. Ensure the public accountability of electoral authorities by guaranteeing in law the right of access of observers and media to all stages of elections and key electoral information, underpinned by timely and transparent accreditation processes and with targeted sanctions for obstruction, intimidation or violence.
  21. Enhance certainty for voters and candidates through completion of pre-election disputes well in advance of election days by adapting legal timelines, providing additional resources for adjudication, as well as consistently and concisely detailing and publishing decisions in a timely manner including online.
  22. Address impunity for electoral offences through robust, well defined, and effective interagency co-ordination governed by clear rules on non-partisanship, optimisation of resources, delivery of effective investigation and sanctioning, and provision of regular public consolidated information on outcomes.
  23. Ensure immediate and easy access to key information of public interest. This includes result forms from all collation levels, and decisions on i) cancellations of polling unit results, ii) supplementary elections, iii) declaration of winners, iv) the creation of new polling units and on v) reallocation of voters. Underpin transparency measures with a clear legal basis and effective sanctioning for non compliance.

7 Misconceptions About The Ear: Separating Fact From Fiction

Depressed 6 years old child crying. Dark background.

The human ear is a remarkable organ responsible for our ability to hear and maintain balance. However, misconceptions about the ear abound, leading to a cloud of confusion and misinformation.

In this feature story, we aim to dispel seven common misconceptions about the ear and shed light on the truth behind these fascinating sensory organs.

Misconception 1: Q-tips are the perfect ear-cleaning tool.

Truth: Contrary to popular belief, inserting Q-tips or any other objects into the ear canal is not recommended. Earwax naturally migrates out of the ear canal, and inserting objects can push it deeper, potentially leading to blockages or damage to the delicate structures within the ear. A soft washcloth or gentle rinsing during a shower is sufficient to keep the outer ear clean.

Misconception 2: Hearing loss is solely caused by aging.

Truth: While it is true that age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) is common, it is not the only cause. Exposure to loud noises, certain medications, infections, genetic factors, and medical conditions can all contribute to hearing loss. It’s essential to protect our ears from excessive noise and seek timely medical attention if hearing difficulties arise.

Misconception 3: Only loud noises can damage the ears.

Truth: Prolonged exposure to high-decibel sounds like concerts or machinery can certainly harm our hearing, but even prolonged exposure to moderate levels of noise can cause damage over time. It is important to be mindful of our sound environments and consider using ear protection, such as earplugs or earmuffs, in noisy situations.

Misconception 4: Hearing aids restore hearing to normal.

Truth: Hearing aids are invaluable devices that amplify sounds and improve hearing for individuals with hearing loss. However, they do not completely restore hearing to its natural state. Hearing aids enhance the sounds around us, making communication and daily activities easier, but they have limitations and cannot replicate perfect hearing.

Misconception 5: Earwax is unhygienic and should be removed entirely.

Truth: Earwax, or cerumen, is a natural substance that serves as a protective barrier for the ear canal. It helps trap dirt, dust, and bacteria, preventing them from reaching the delicate parts of the ear. In most cases, the ear can naturally eliminate excess earwax. Cleaning the outer ear with a washcloth is sufficient, and attempts to remove all earwax can disrupt the ear’s self-cleaning process.

Misconception 6: Loud music only affects our hearing temporarily.

Truth: Listening to loud music or prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause temporary hearing loss, known as temporary threshold shift (TTS). However, repeated exposure to loud music without adequate protection can lead to permanent damage, such as noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). It’s crucial to practice safe listening habits and give our ears time to recover after exposure to loud noise.

Misconception 7: Ear infections are only common in children.

Truth: While ear infections, particularly otitis media, are more prevalent in children due to their anatomical structure, adults can also experience ear infections. Factors such as allergies, sinus infections, and upper respiratory infections can contribute to adult ear infections. It is important to seek medical attention if symptoms such as ear pain, fluid discharge, or hearing loss occur.

Understanding the truth behind common misconceptions about the ear is vital for maintaining good ear health and preventing potential damage. OPEN HEAVEN 4 JULY 2023 MEMORIZE:

And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 1 Kings 19:5

OPEN HEAVEN 4 JULY 2023 BIBLE READING

1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

OPEN HEAVEN 3 JULY 2023 MEMORIZE:

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matthew 15:28

OPEN HEAVEN 3 JULY 2023 BIBLE READING MATTHEW 15:22-28

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Seun Kuti’s Trial Adjourned Due To Magistrate’s Absence

Seun Kuti

The absence of Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Yaba Magistrates’s court has further stalled the trial of Afrobeat Musician, Seun Kuti.

The registrar, Mr Babalola, in the absence of the chief Magistrate, Olatunbosun, adjourned the case till September 27, 2023, for the continuation of the proceeding.

It was reported that the Lagos State Police Command arraigned the Afrobeat musician, on May 16, 2023.

The defendant was charged with assault on a police officer, an offence contrary to Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act.

Meanwhile, on May 24, Magistrate Olatunbosun in her ruling stated that the police cannot be the complainant and also the prosecutor of the case. She, therefore requested the DPP’s advice to continue the prosecution.

She said, “I need the advice of the DPP to know whether he should be prosecuted or not.”

She thus adjourned the case till July 3, 2023, for the DPP’s advice.

However, today the case was further adjourned for the continuation of proceeding following the absence of Magistrate Olatunbosun.

Al-Nassr Unveils Nike As New Brand Sponsor

Al-Nassr has unveiled Nike as its new kit manufacturer following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in January this year.
In a post made by the club’s official Twitter account on Sunday, it stated, “We are delighted to announce Nike, as our official kit supplier for the 2023-24 season.

“This deal will be activated starting from AlNassr Japan Tour at the end of July.”
Football superstar, Ronaldo, 38, has a lifetime deal with Nike and is currently on a 10-year contract with the company worth £147 million.

Ronaldo’s team, Al-Nassr, has switched from Arabic giants Duneus to Nike as their kit manufacturer. This is the team’s third time partnering with Nike, having worked with them previously between 1997-2001 and 2010-2012.
The change in the manufacturer is unlikely to result in a significant visual change, as Duneus took inspiration from Nike’s style for their current kit design.

Al-Hilal, another Saudi pro league team, has also recently switched to a well-known sportswear brand, Puma, on a five-year contract as the league’s international profile grows.

Ibadan Dry Port Project Will Be Completed Ahead Of Schedule – Makinde

Ibadan Dry Port Project Will Be Completed Ahead Of Schedule - Makinde

The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has stated that the Ibadan dry port project may be completed sooner than projected.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokeswoman, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde spoke while inspecting current projects around the state.

The Ibadan inland dry port, the College of Agriculture and Renewable Energy, Iseyin, a campus at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, the Engineer Lere Adigun Housing Estate, Basorun, and the Ibadan circle road were among the project sites visited.

Speaking about the dry port, Makinde stated that the project will be completed soon and operations will begin because the country’s current leadership, led by President Bola Tinubu, understands “the benefits of developing the economic value chain.”

He also stated that his administration will work with the federal government, and that the installation of Tinubu’s leadership will not impede the project’s completion.

“I think the change of government is even positive for Oyo state because we have a new administration at the federal level that understands what it is to develop the economic value chain,” Makinde said.

“So, we will even cooperate more with the federal government and that project will come on stream quicker than we were expecting.

“So far, so good, there is still a lot of work to be done but we are making good progress. You have seen it as well.

“We were on that campus (LAUTECH campus, Iseyin) before the election and we have seen between then and now that a lot of progress has been made, and even here (Ibadan circular road), we have interested investors coming around to say, look, what exactly are we projecting in terms of the opportunities in Oyo state.

“To the people, we have many opportunities around here, especially for our young folks. They should not ‘japa’ because if they are hardworking, they can contribute and get their rewards,” he added.

“So, I will say we are creating opportunities across the spectrum and people are paying attention to what we are doing.”
