Transactions on the floor of the Nigeria Stock Exchange, NSE, on Monday, July 10, closed upbeat as the lead indices of the bourse scooped 0.48 per cent.
As such, the All Share Index surged by 155.43 basis points and closed at 32,614.60 points. Similarly, the market capitalization closed at N11.241 trillion after adding N53.6 billion.
The day’s performance pulled up year-to-date gains to 21.22 percent and reduced month-to-date loss to 1.51 percent.
Market Activity chart showed 26 gainers paired against 15 losers, with Flour Mills leading the day’s gainers by 9.75 percent to close at N25 per share, CI Leasing followed with a gain of 5 percent, to close at 63 kobo per share.
Red Star Express appreciated by 5 per cent to close at N5.25 per share, UBA increased 4.94 percent to close at N8.92 per share; and Access Bank appreciated 4.93 percent to close at N9.58 per share.
Conversely, Union Bank of Nigeria topped the day’s losers with a decline of 8.82 percent to close at N5.58 per share, UPL came next with a drop of 5 percent to close at N3.23 per share. Skye Bank followed, with a loss of 5 percent also to close at 57 kobo, AG Leventis dipped 4.88 per cent to close at 78 kobo per share and Vitafoam fell 4.81 percent to close at N2.57 per share.
Guaranty Trust Bank led the day’s activity chart with an exchange of 26.4 million shares worth N909 million, FCMB was next with the sale of 18.7 million shares valued at N23.2 million, while Zenith Bank traded 15.7 million shares worth N330.2 million. Diamond Bank exchanged 13.9 million shares valued at N17.2 million, and FBN Holdings emerged the fifth most traded stock with 11.5 million shares worth N71.3 million.
At the end of trading, volume of shares slumped to 182.1 million shares when compared with 212.4 million shares traded last Friday, while the value of shares traded in 3,710 deals on Monday dipped to N2.03 billion against N2.5 billion worth of shares traded in 3,217 deals in the previous session.
