The management of Max Air Nigeria has acquired two additional 747-400 series aircraft in order to make the 2016 Hajj operations successful.
The company’s spokesperson, Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru, who briefed Aviation correspondents shortly after one of the new aircraft landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), said the second aircraft would come to Nigeria shortly.
Dahiru said the two aircraft would be launched during this year’s Hajj operations. He said Max Air intended to face-out the 747-300 series and replaced them with the latest series of 747-400 which he said the company has so far acquired three.
He explained that each of the new aircraft had the capacity of accommodating 503 passengers, saying the two additional aircraft would make subsequent Hajj operations easier for the company.
He said: “Max Air is determined to provide better services to its teeming customers, hence can do everything possible within its power to improve its services. It is in view of this that we acquired two latest series of 747 aircraft.”
Alhaji Dahiru said the company airlifted 36,000 pilgrims to the holy land for the annual pilgrimage in 2015, noting that the firm expects more airlift with the additional aircraft.
