Market Capitalization Scoops N276billion on Positive Equities Trading

The market capitalization of the Nigerian stock market started off the new month on Tuesday, May 3, on a positive note.

The market capitalization which opened at N8.621 trillion, jumped by N276 billion, to close at N8.897 trillion, yesterday.

However, activity level dwindled as volume and value traded decreased marginally by four and 3 per cent to 220.1 million units and N1.5 billion respectively.

Market breadth was positive with 33 gainers and 12 losers. Nestle led the gainers’ table by 10.25 per cent, to close at N678.32 per share. Eterna followed with a gain of 10 per cent to close at N2.53, while Tiger Brands advanced by 8.91 per cent to close at N3.30 per share.

UBA and Dangote Cement gained by five per cent each to close at N3.57 and N171.57 per share respectively.
