Lagos Reiterates Commitment To Tourism

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Steve Ayorinde, has stated that it was time to begin to promote the Lagos Brand on the world stage, to showcase the socio-economic and cultural strengths of the state.

Ayorinde said the state government has undertaken several tourism programmes to put the state on the world map. He noted that the various tourism programmes are in realisation of the pledge made by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode during his electioneering campaign to promote social cohesion and create employment opportunities through tourism and Arts.

While receiving the Chief Executive Officer of BEN TV, Dr. Alisair Soyode, he lauded the TV station for successes recorded in the past 13 years of operation and for propagating the African culture among global audiences. He stated that government was ready to partner with the television station in line with its strategic engagement with the media.

Soyode said that the purpose of his visit was to intimate the state government with the activities of the station and the establishment of the “Nigerian Diaspora Mentoring Corp” aimed at creating a platform for engaging Nigerian youths in gainful ventures.

According to him, the Corp has been able to provide a platform to engage professional Diaspora Nigerians to interact with the Nigerian youths for purposeful direction in adjusting to adulthood. He noted that private individuals are more available to render such support and give them needed leadership direction.

He praised the state government for redefining public sector information management and pledged the readiness of the station to partner with it.
