Last week, we reported the death of the former Super Eagles captain and chief coach, the burial rites of Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has been tentatively scheduled for the last weekend of July with the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung to chair the committee.
General Secretary of the football federation, Muhammed Sanusi, who made the disclosure at the Glass House on Tuesday, further revealed that representatives of the federation, Edo and Delta States governments and members of Keshi’s family would also make up the burial committee.
The chief scribe of the federation also revealed that the secretariat has been inundated with telephone calls from world soccer legends who want to be part of the burial process.
According to Sanusi: “We have tentatively been settling for the last weekend of July as Keshi’s burial. The burial committee will soon be constituted and I can tell you that the Hon Minister of Sports and Youth Development will chair the committee.
“Other members of the committee will be drawn from the NFF, the Delta and Edo States government and members of the Keshi family. We have been receiving calls from world soccer legends and I can tell you that the likes of Marcel Desailly, George Weah among others have indicated interest to grace the burial.
“We will keep you updated once the final burial arrangements have been concluded by the committee,” he announced.
