The Federal Government (FG) claims to have recovered one billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) since the start of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in May 2015.
Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, made the announcement on Wednesday following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House presided over by President Buhari.
The AGF stated that the recovered assets, which were deployed to various sectors of the economy, particularly to alleviate poverty, had a significant impact on poverty levels and the nation’s economy.
Against this backdrop, he declared that the council had approved an anti-corruption strategy document to strengthen the country’s anti-graft fight.
In the same vein, the AGF expressed the federal government’s concern about recurring cases of budget padding, stating that any necessary measures would be investigated.
