Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has announced the suspension of over 38 registered firms in Nigeria as a result their redundancy and inactivity after registration.
Register- General represented by his S.A, Garuba Abubakar, who spoke on the commission’s ongoing key reforms towards ease of doing business in Nigeria in Abuja earlier in the week, stated that the move was part of the commission’s effort at intensifying its enforcement drive.
He said the commission’s newly launched initiatives and reforms is aimed at achieving global competitiveness and enhancing the ease of business engagement in the country.
These ongoing reforms which according to the R.G is meant to reposition the commission include the development of a user-friendly Company Registration Portal that affords customers online access to the services of the commission from the comfort of their homes.
Others include collaboration with Federal Inland Revenue Service to introduce electronic stamping of documents on the company registration portal. The e-stamping when fully implemented is expected to dispense with physical submission of documents causing delay and facilitate one stop on-line shop for company registration.
The commission also disclosed the development of a document upload interface that is linked to the company registration portal to enable customers upload their registration documents.
Also the review of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 in order to bring it in line with global best practices in company regulation and administration, the review he assured will strengthen the regulatory and enforcement capacities of the commission to effectively discharge its functions and promote good corporate management and operation of companies.
The CAC however assured Nigerians of improved operational module and uninterrupted services while expressing optimism on full implementation of the commission’s new reforms by March 2017.
