Anambra To Employ 200 Graduates With Disabilities

Anambra State Government has concluded arrangements to employ no fewer than 200 graduates with disabilities in the public service before the end of the year.

Senior Special Assistant to Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, Chuks Ezewuzie, a lawyer, stated this in Awka, the state capital.

Ezewuzie said this was part of the stimulus package of the governor to cushion the effect of recession on the citizenry.

He explained that the governor had approved scholarship for students with disabilities in the state.

Ezewuzie, who is visually impaired, added that the governor had endorsed the promotion of people with disabilities as permanent secretaries.

“On the 11th of October, the governor received at the Governor’s Lodge, the athletes and medallists with disabilities who made the state proud at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“The governor, aside from cash donations to the athletes, offered employment opportunities to the athletes and announced promotion for the employed athletes in the civil service.

“How can any right thinking patriotic citizen with these facts interpret the efforts of the governor to be a political pitch for a second term bid,” the governor’s aide queried.

Ezewuzie expressed gratitude to the governor for his commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities in the state.
