A/Ibom Plans To Develop Petroleum Tank Farm

In his effort to curb the incessant shortage of fuel in the state, Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has disclosed plans to establish Petroleum Tank Farm for the storage of petroleum product in the state.

He announced this at Reigners Bible Church International, in Uyo, noting that this was to complement the supply of the product from various depots and ease the perennial scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), Domestic Purpose Kero (Kerosine) and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) which has affected the consuming public over time.

The governor who sympathized with the consuming public for the hardship experienced and the racketeering by petroleum dealers who hiked prices of fuel thereby generating artificial scarcity through hoarding of the product, said that gas fuel would be introduced for vehicles that use gas, explaining that gas was affordable and more economical compared to petrol and diesel.

Speaking on the issue of electricity supply in the state, he said  Oron road and Osongama axis was currently experiencing fluctuation occasioned by decay in the distribution lines is now receiving attention and that work is going on at a booster station along Edet Akpan Avenue which when completed would ensure steady supply of power to the area.

He added that similar overhaul of electricity infrastructure would be carried out with the establishment of a Booster Station at Nung Oku.
