NSE Index Slips by 0.62% on Weaker Trading

    The Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Friday November 25, continued movement south as lead market indices shed 0.62 percent.
    All Share Index closed at 25,333.39 points from 25,490.70 points the previous trading session, driving up Year-to-Date losses to settle at -11.6 percent.
    While market capitalisation depreciated by N54 billion, closing at N8.720 trillion compared to N9.1 billion lost previously to close at N8.774 trillion.

    Market breadth was negative with 15 gainers paired against 20 losers, with Okomuoil topping the day’s losers’ chart, losing 9.68 percent to close at N36.20 per share.

    Forte Oil followed closely behind losing 8.99 percent to close at N62.80 per share and Oando that lost 3.99 percent to close at N5 per share.

    UAC-Property closed at N2.47 after plunging 5 percent while Nascon Allied Industries dropped 4.87 percent to close at N6.84 per share.

    Conversely, Total led the top five gainers with a 10.25 percent appreciation to close at N245.85 per share. Mobil followed with a 5 percent growth to close at N208.97 per share, while Vitafoam recorded a gain of 4.80 percent to close at N2.40 per share.

    Africa Prudential Registrars recorded a 4.66 percent growth to close at N2.92 per share and Livestock Feeds added 4 percent to close at 78 kobo per share.

    FCMB emerged the most traded stock for the day with 36 million shares valued at N37.8 million, Zenith Bank followed with 20.0 million units of shares worth N280.9 million while Wema Bank came third with the sale of 16 million shares worth N8.3 million.

    FBN Holdings traded 12.7 million shares worth N39 million and Transcorp sold approximately 7.4 million shares at N5.3 million.

    At the end of market session, volume traded soared by 49 percent to settle at 144.2 million units valued at N2.143 billion and exchanged in 2,459 deals compared to 97.1 million units, valued at N1.140 billion and exchanged in 1,929 deals in previous session.
