Nigeria’s largest online mall, Konga.com, has again demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the tech community by initiating a software developers internship program for tertiary students and fresh graduates.
The program, which is currently focused on software developers, comprises of two categories of trainees: Enrolled university students fulfilling their I.T (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any related field) and fresh graduates and NYSC members with a passion for programming (Konga Kadets.)
Commenting on the Program, Konga’s VP, People Engagement, Ikeoluwapo Adebowale said, “At Konga, technology is one of our major drivers to enable us attain our mission. With the scarcity of software developers in Nigeria, we believe that our internship programme can contribute to encouraging young graduates interested in this area.
“Software developers love an environment with the opportunity to learn and the autonomy to unleash creativity and innovativeness. That’s how we are in Konga and look forward to grooming the best software developers in Nigeria.”
While speaking, CEO of Konga Online Shopping Limited, Shola Adekoya said: “Konga Software Developers Internship Program is in line with Konga’s thought leadership positioning as a powerful force for economic growth in Africa which is empowering businesses who in turn are able to grow and employ labour.

In line with achieving this vision, Konga is also launching the first of its kind – Software Developers Hackathon in one of the Federal Universities in Nigeria.
The event is scheduled to hold on the 29th of October 2016. Konga is excited about the response of students to this event and is expecting a great turnout of students in their 3rd, 4th and 5th school year.
