Wike Threatens To Sue NPA

Nyesom Wike Pleadges to complete Kpopie-Bodo

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday while inaugurating the Industry road formerly known as the NPA road to mark his one year in office, recalled that the NPA had not paid its counterpart funding for the road rehabilitation project. He, however, threatened to take the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority to court for failing to contribute to the N303m road rehabilitation project in the state.

The governor, after resuming office, had approached the NPA, some agencies and firms to assist the state government in maintaining the Industry road which was in a deplorable condition. It was gathered that other firms and organisations within the area had cooperated with the state government while the NPA had refused to comply with the government directive.

“I wanted to visit a school located along the Industry road and I was not able to pass through the road because of its bad state. I had to take another route to get to where I was going. I approached the NPA to assist us in reconstruction of the road but they failed to fulfill their own part of the bargain.

“We carried out the reconstruction work without the NPA contributing its own quota. The road is used by the NPA to do their job so they should fulfill their obligation.

“We should not play politics with everything especially projects that would impact on our people. We may consider institution of legal action to compel them to pay their own contribution,”he threatened.

The governor also inaugurated the Borokiri access-inter link road in Bie Ama community and the Abonnema Wharf Road on Wednesday.
