Good skincare is the best way to avoid acne, blemishes and dark spots. It takes work and dedication to stick to your routine and maintain good skincare. Jumia Travel shares 8 skin clearing remedies that will not only help you maintain good skin care, but are simple enough to implement routinely.

Mixture of Raw Honey and Brown Sugar

Mix 1 tablespoon of raw honey with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar in a small bowl. Mix them together well and then store in a glass jar with an airtight lid. The mixture should be kept at room temperature.

Before you apply the mixture to your skin, wash your face well. Apply ½ tablespoon of the scrub to your wet skin. Gently massage the mixture in a circular motion and avoid getting it in your eyes. When you are done with the scrub, rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry with a towel. This remedy helps to remove dark spots.

Note that you should be careful with this remedy and use sparingly, as it can have a bleaching effect on the skin when it’s overdone.

Aloe Vera

This is a highly nutritious plant that does wonders for the skin. It is easy to grow and is attractive enough to be used as a decorative item in your home. Aloe Vera is succulent; therefore it stores a lot of water within its leaves and only needs to be watered at least two or three times a month. Buying a potted aloe vera plant is also easy and rather inexpensive.

Use aloe vera regularly to reduce inflammation, and prevent bacteria from affecting your acne. Also, rub aloe vera on dark spots once or twice daily to reduce hyperpigmentation and clear dark spots.

Vitamin E

Purchase liquid vitamin E. Dab the liquid onto the dark spots on your face. If you don’t have liquid vitamin E, buy vitamin E capsules. Open the capsules and mix with little water until a thin liquid is formed. This remedy provides the skin with plenty antioxidants to help even your skin tone.

Sweet Organic Honey

First, rinse your face with warm water. Then, take a spoonful of organic honey and spread evenly on your face. Leave it on your face for 30 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. This brings a glow to your skin and helps to prevent acne.

Jojoba Oil

This is an effective natural moisturizer. You can use a pipette to drop 5 to 6 drops of the oil on a cotton ball, then dab on your acne. The oil doesn’t clog your pores; rather it works to improve your natural oil balance.

Cucumber

Cucumbers have nourishing, hydrating and astringent properties that help improve the overall appearance of the skin by repairing damaged skin cells, removing dead skin cells and adding a fresh glow to your skin. It helps to prevent acne and black spots.

To apply, you first cut a fresh cucumber into thick slices and then rub thoroughly all over your face. Leave it on overnight and rinse with warm water in the morning. You should try to do this daily before going to bed.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Purchase a bottle of apple cider vinegar, then mix equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar together. Soak a cotton ball in the mixture and apply on your face in a circular motion.

Leave it on overnight and wash the area preferably with warm water in the morning. You should try to do this every night before going to bed. The acids present in the ACV exfoliate dead skin cells and reveals a fresh and healthy layer of skin cells. ACV is also an astringent and prevents your pores from getting infected and inflamed.

Egg White and Lemon Mask

Gather and beat 1 egg white until it becomes frothy. Add juice from ½ a lemon to your egg white, and then mix together. Apply the mask to your face and leave on for 30 minutes. Gently rinse it off with warm water and apply a moisturizer on your skin.

Egg white helps to tighten your pores and remove built up dirt from your skin. Lemon not only exfoliates but brightens your skin, so you should therefore use sparingly to temper its bleaching effects.  Lemon is also a good source of alpha hydroxyl acids and vitamin C. Vitamin C helps to reduce hyper production of melanin, so aside using lemon for your mask, you should also consider eating food with high vitamin C content.
