Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan is one of the greatest musicians in Nigeria. Before his death, he was battling cancer died on July 11, 2021.
The ”Jagbajantis” singer was one of Nigeria’s talented musicians who was popular for his music and in the hip hop world.

Early Life
Sound Sultan was born on November 27, 1976, as Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi in Jos, Nigeria.

Education
Sound Sultan graduated from Lagos State University after obtaining a degree in Geography and Regional Planning in 1999.
Music Career
By 1999, he had won numerous local talent-hunt shows. He released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which was a hit in Nigeria. After independently releasing other singles and featuring in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis Music.
Sound Sultan released 4 albums under Kennis Music. By 2007, his contract with the label expired and he partnered with Baba Dee to start Naija Ninjas, a parent organization for a record label, production outfit and clothing line.
Family
In 2009, Sound Sultan married his long-term girlfriend Chichi Morah, now known as Farida Fasasi from the Igbo ethnic group. The couple has three children.

In 2012, Sound Sultan was made a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career. Sound Sultan began a working relationship with Wyclef Jean when featured alongside 2face Idibia and Faze on “Proud to be African” from Wyclef’s Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 album.
He was a rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, comedian and recording artist regarded as one of the pacesetters of modern hip hop music in Nigeria.
Jagbajantis and natural something are part of his greatest hits.
Health
News of his battle with throat cancer became public knowledge in May 2021. It was also gathered that the singer was receiving chemotherapy in the United States.
This had many fans and well-wishers saying prayers for his speedy recovery through social media posts.
Reacting ot the news, Sound Sultan shared on Instagram, saying, “I must not ignore the massive show of love. Thank you all. I will tell you my story myself it will be true THEN not false.”
Death
BizWatch Nigeria reported the news of Sound Sultan was announced on Sunday by a family member of the deceased, Kayode Fasasi via a statement. Sound Sultan battled with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma,” a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related malignancies (cancers) that affect the lymphatic system (lymphomas).
