Ten major stockbroking firms including Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers, Rencap Securities Limited, CSL Stockbrokers Limited and seven others, traded 74.93 billion shares worth N360.43 billion in the first half of 2016.
The brokers’ performance report of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, revealed that the 10 stockbrokers were responsible for 58.22 per cent of the total value between January 4, 2016 and June 30, 2016.
Also, the brokers are responsible for 60.45 per cent of the total volume during the period under review. Further checks revealed that Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited dominated with 12.15 per cent or N75.21 billion exchanged in 5.65 billion shares.
Rencap Securities followed with N67.63 billion or 10.92 per cent exchanged in 4.16 billion shares. CSL Stockbrokers accounted for N57.13 billion or 9.23 per cent invested in 6.28 billion shares.
Greenwich Trust traded N26.59 billion or 4.29 per cent recorded in 27.1 billion shares, while Cardinalstone Securities accounted for N16.1 billion or 5.10 per cent.
African Alliance traded N14.64 billion or 2.37 per cent, Chapel Hill traded shares worth N13.62 billion and One Investment Stockbrokers staked shares worth N12.98 billion or 2.10 per cent.
