Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) says it has generated $149.6 billion in revenue since inception and has begun exploratory activities for additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains beyond the ongoing Train 7 expansion project.
The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adeleye Falade, disclosed this on Tuesday during the unveiling of NLNG’s Facts and Figures 2026 publication in Lagos.
Falade said NLNG has paid $47.2 billion in dividends to shareholders and $10.8 billion in taxes to the Federal Government since becoming tax compliant in 2009. He added that the company currently operates six liquefaction trains, owns assets valued at more than $22.9 billion, and has safely delivered over 6,285 LNG cargoes to customers worldwide.
According to him, NLNG currently accounts for about six per cent of global LNG supply, strengthening Nigeria’s position in the international gas market.
“When completed, Train 7 will increase our LNG production by 35 per cent and boost LPG production by 50 per cent,” Falade said.
The Train 7 project has reached 93 per cent completion and is expected to raise NLNG’s production capacity from 22 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes, while significantly increasing domestic supplies of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas.
Beyond Train 7, Falade said the company has begun preliminary discussions and technical assessments for Trains 8, 9 and 10 as part of its long-term growth strategy.
He also disclosed that NLNG supplied a record 500,000 tonnes of LPG to the Nigerian market in 2025—equivalent to about one-third of national demand—and has dedicated all LPG production to the domestic market since 2022 to improve access to cleaner cooking fuel.
Despite the progress, Falade identified gas supply shortages as NLNG’s biggest operational challenge, noting that conditions have improved in 2026 after a particularly difficult 2025.

Falade urged Nigeria to accelerate the development of its estimated 290 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves, warning that the global energy transition presents only a limited window to maximise the country’s gas resources.
“There is a window within which we must take advantage of the resources that God has given to us,” Falade said.
